We use the amazing I Straight System for our Japanese relaxers, this is the safest and most effective system for straightening the different hair types, conditions, and textures from light curls to the most stubborn and kinky hair type. The straightening formulas we use contain natural oils, ceramide and other ingredients that breakdown the bonds in the hair's cortex layer. Our relaxers gives the hair back its natural resources and proteins to give the hair a more brilliant and natural shine with a silkier texture.
The I Straight System (Thermal Reconditioning) is a permanent hair straightening system that utilizes 3 solution strengths, each tailored for different cases. Whether the difference is in hair texture, curl type, and condition (such as highlighted, bleached, or even pre-relaxed hair types) there is a solution to meet the specific needs of each individual. The solutions can also be inter-mixed with each other to form a custom strength depending on the condition of the hair. The solutions are cream-based for easier application and to prevent the relaxer from dripping down to the scalp area. As with all hair chemicals, if it touches the scalp, breakage can occur.
The I Straight formulas contains negative ions in the relaxer and positive ions in the neutralizer. This will create a stronger bond to restructure the hair properly and to keep the hair healthy, moisturized, and vibrant. One of the best benefits of using the I Straight System is Ceramide. Ceramide is a natural resource that is part of your intercellular bonds to keep the integrity of the hair and fortifies the cuticles to keep the hair soft, natural, and healthy. Ceramide is used as a substitute for silicone types commonly used in the relaxer. Other products currently in the market utilize Dimethicone, a common Silicone by-product, to coat the hair for artificial shine and smoothness. However, after the Dimethicone has been bonded to the hair, (with the use of a hot iron) it will eventually dry or break off, taking the cuticles along with it. The result is damaged hair in the long run or reverting curls.
Can I color my hair after having it relaxed?
Yes, if your came in with virgin hair and it is in good enough condition you can even color your hair the same day as having it relaxed. However, for most hair types we suggest waiting 5-7 days before coloring your hair. So...while having to wait those 5-7 days might be hard...at least you can still color your hair, and have it silky and straight, right?
Is a Japanese Relaxer safe to use while pregnant?
We recommend that you do not straighten the hair during the first 3 months and after the 7th month. Due to the hormonal changes in the body, the straightening may not take on the hair. We highly recommend that you first contact your physician before you decide to get your hair straightened during your pregnancy.
I've had my hair previously relaxed by another system, can I still get a Japanese Relaxer?
It depends on what system was used on your hair previously. Unfortunately you cannot use a Japanese Relaxer over hair that has been previously relaxed with a non-japanese relaxing system. If you're not sure what your stylist used on you last time, try asking...they should have that information on file for you. And if not, we can always perform a strand test on your hair, to see how it will react to the Japanese Relaxer. A strand test means we will take a small section of your hair from the nape area and perform the relaxer procedure on it. This will save you time, money and disappointment if your hair cannot be safely relaxed with a Japanese relaxer system.
Will it cost me as much money, and take as long to get it retouched at the roots when it grows out?
No. Retouches on Japanese relaxers are usually about 25% less expensive than your first relaxer and also takes about half the amount of time.
Please note: That a consultation must be done prior to your actual relaxer service. This allows us to fully evaluate your hair and special order a relaxer to address the needs of your hair. It is important to us to maintain healthy hair, and to limit as much chemical damage as possible, this is why we do not use a generic relaxer.
