We know it's hard choosing a new salon, and we also know it's easier when you know what to expect. We have gathered some testimonials or reviews that our clients have given us. We work hard to ensure our guests are comfortable and well taken care of at Chameleon Salon, and here is what some of our guests had to say about us.
I was lucky enough to try Chameleon over a year ago, when I first moved to the area. Usually I see Madelyn, although I've had other stylists perform cuts and color when Madelyn is booked and they've done a great job. I've been trying to grow out a short haircut and she always remembers this and never cuts my hair too short.
Just one example of their outstanding customer service: I let a friend trim my bangs one Saturday morning, and they turned out way too short and uneven (I know, totally my fault!). I stopped by Chameleon with no notice, hoping Madelyn would have time to fit me in. Not only did she make time for me immediately, she didn't charge me. And I love my bangs shorter! Give Chameleon a try, you won't be disappointed!
Chameleon Salon is a hidden treasure in N. Portland. They use top of the line products, including Paul Mitchell Color and OPI nail products. They even have Vegan nail polish! Ever since I've been going to Madelyn I've been getting compliments on my hair color. The prices are in line with other salons of this caliber, however, they have "happy hour" prices between noon and 4 pm, send out emails for last minute deals (20% off), have really great referral programs and even have a punch card where you can earn a free pedicure or haircut after a certain number of visits. While the salon very charming, the atmosphere is not snooty. Love this little N Portland Gem.
This salon is the greatest! Extremely professional and nice environment. Giselle and Madelyn are both amazing; I constantly get comments regarding how great my hair looks! :) Great products as well; my hair actually feels healthier after I get my highlights done..(if that's even possible!) If you haven't been there, you should go...it's definitely worth your time and money.
I've been going to Chameleon for the past year, and people frequently comment on how great my hair looks. I usually work with the Madelyn, and she is always on time, gives me her full attention, and works with me to give me a great cut and color. I can't recommend her salon highly enough.
I chose this salon based
on the good vibe I got by reading their website. They seemed to care
about customer service, which is important to me because I always get
the snobbiest people cutting my hair. They always have to make some
comment like "Wow...you haven't cut your hair in a long time..." I want
to say "Yeah jackass, that's why I'm here." One guy told me I really
should wear "certain clothes" with the style I wanted (basically he was
saying I looked like crap). I didn't get any of that here. Madelyn was
very professional and really cared about giving me a style I liked. She
took the time to listen to my concerns, especially because I cut off 13
inches of hair in one visit. She wanted to make sure that the transition
wasn't too traumatic for me. As for the salon, it's very cozy and cute.
I've never felt more comfortable in a salon before.
All in all, I got a great haircut for a really reasonable price. They
also have a policy where you can come back within a week for any
adjustments you might want for free. That's great service!
I used to be a little scandalous when it came to stylists, loving them and leaving them, all over town. That behavior ended when I showed up at Chameleon for Japanese Thermal Straightening. As a teacher, I don't want to spend tons of time on my hair in the morning, but I also don't want high school kids making fun of me for my raggedy mop. Post-Chameleon, my morning routine became significantly shorter, and I got lots of compliments, even the students momentarily stopped texting to give me a thumbs up! I have also partaken in hair cuts, color, and most recently, the Brazilian gloss treatment. Madelyn is always meticulous, which I appreciate so much, and she is super fun to talk to, I often end up in a chair for 3-5 hours due to all of my fancy chemical needs, and I never get bored. Finally, you get a lot of bang for your buck here! I highly recommend this place.
If there is a salon in heaven it would called "chameleon salon" never have I felt more beautiful and appreciated like this before !!! The stylists are exquisite and very knowledgeable. I received star quality treatment and will be a client for life ! I highly recommend this salon especially for color services and technique. Madeline is outstanding !
This place is so cute. I
usually go to strip mall salons but no more. This place was a tiny bit more
expensive (25 bucks for a midlevel pedi) but worth it to have a place with
character and charm. The color selection is smaller than other places but I
found some I liked anyway - no problem for me but maybe for someone else?
My pedi was done by Cam who was totally friendly and talkative without being
small-talky and awkward.
The employees obviously get along and were chatting to each other and me
which made it seem cozy and comfortable.
I look forward to more services here!
For an up and coming salon this place is fab! Madelyn, co-owner, is the best stylist I've ever been to. (and I have paid big money for cuts and color) I was turned onto them thru Groupon and got a great deal. Yes, the facilities are small and not sophisticated like you think a foo-foo salon should be, but they have the customer service skills. Madelyn stayed way late to finish the work without batting an eye and then even sent me away with a generous gift! The atmosphere is funky and inviting. It's a salon where you can feel at home at... can share about new loves and bad jobs. Something you don't find in a big city anymore. Love these ladies!

alldeepblueI absolutely love this salon! It's small and charming. The prices are excellent, the products are top notch, and the people are warm, attentive, positive, and great at what they do.
I went in yesterday afternoon for a deep cleanse facial and a hair glaze. My gal was Jade and she was Tops! She brought me a glass of red wine, was interesting to talk with, and the neck/shoulder massage during the facial was the best I've had yet.
The deep cleanse facial was comprised of four steps, took an hour, and my skin (which is usually overly sensitive) feels the best it's been since I was a girl.
The prices! I can't emphasize enough the wonderful value! With all sorts of promotions, packages, programs, and last minute deals - I'm thoroughly thrilled with this place. Checking around for the same services and quality, I found that they are an average 25% savings over other Portland Metro salons.
Highly recommended.

I love this place! I've only been twice. I had my hair cut in September before I moved and as June was coming to an end I was in desperate need of a haircut. I braved up and look up local salons. Chameleon was closest to my house, and affordable. They have a great website and I used the photos to get an idea of each stylists, uh, style. I decided to schedule an appointment with Madelyn. I got too antsy and made ANOTHER appointment for a week before. I went in and she chopped off all my hair. They schedule you for an hour so you get a wash and lots of time.
I liked my hair but it wasn't perfect, I wrote to the salon and right away (after hours even) Madelyn emailed me back and told me I could make an appointment. She guarantees her cuts so my 2nd appointment was free. Even though it was really me not really describing what I wanted. So I went in again and she chopped off even more bits and pieces of hair. My hair went from the longest it's been in a while to the shortest it's been in years. Pretty dramatic! But I LOVE it! It's perfect! I can blow-dry it straight and sleek or I can let it air dry for some waves. I've never been able to let my hair air dry and look normal.
The salon it's self is cool and chic without being too much. It's got lots of nice natural light and all the girls there make you feel really welcome! Both times I went in I waited for a few minutes and was able to just hop into conversation and not feel like I was intruding.
The only downsize is parking is kinda weird, there's not really a lot anywhere, maybe it's just where I'm from, but street parking is always a little off to me. But because it's small they don't seem to have a ton of people in there and I've had no trouble finding a parking spot.
If you can get there you should! All the girls are great and helpful. And it's not insanely pricey, they usual 35 bucks a hair cut type thing. It is great, give it a try, even if you don't know who best fits you just stop bye and chat, they're the best!

I love this place! It is so trendy on the inside and out. The people are great! Its a great place to have on speed dial if you need something big done... last min appointments for color probably wont happen. However they are great about taking walk ins for cuts. All of the girls are well trained. They also have some pretty cool things for sale in there. Last time i went it was so nice to go to a salon and have a whole conversation with everyone in there... just like in the movies ;)
Excellent style without sacrificing a comfortable environment. It's important to me to not be talked down to as a customer and to feel like I'm among nice people - not just those out to make a few bucks chopping hair. The ladies at Chameleon Salon have been above and beyond wonderful, even fixing the mistake of a less-than-super stylist. Affordable, too! I'm going back again... and again and again.
I've gone to Chameleon Salon several times and had a great experience each time. They are always friendly and I leave feeling great. Whether I'm having my hair done, getting a mani/pedi or having my teeth whitened, I know that I'll have a good time and leave looking and feeling better than when I walked in. I will definitely be going back!
I love Chameleon Salon! Madelyn is great with color and the prices are very affordable. The salon has a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere and the entire staff is extremely friendly.
If you've ever been frustrated with stylists that don't seem to listen, you need to go to Chameleon Salon. I went into the salon looking for an updated style that's easy to take care of and natural looking color. The stylist really listened. She not only gave me a style that's easy to take care of, she took the time to show me how to re-create the hair style myself. And the color......its beautiful! I would also recommend the chemical conditioning treatments. It has made a huge difference in the look and feel of my hair. Talented, friendly stylists that listen...what a novel idea!
