Meet the Founders

Hi,IM

NICOLE

Heyyyyyyy, Nicole here! I prefer to talk to you, so heres my story…

I mean... I’m kind of a big deal... ha I kid, I kid. (Anchorman fan tho). Anyways. The good stuff. Did I always want to be a hairdresser? I don’t know, probably not. But damn, once I did, I ran with it. And almost 14 years later here I am.

I am truly, madly, deeply (insert savage garden song here) in love with my career. Like sappy greeting card-level love. I am beyond lucky and thankful I found my place in this world. Chameleon salon has been my hair home for over 6 years and will probably continue to be the place I spend 70% of my time until I inevitably drop dead putting foils in someone’s hair.

I LOVE BLONDING!!!!! There, I said it, I know you were waiting on that one (it is listed directly under my name and all). I like actually geek out on all things blonding; dimension, foil placement, hand painting, toning, treatments, honestly if there’s a blonde rabbit hole I already fell down it, like thirteen times.

Now making people blonde all day isn’t for the faint of heart. Let me tell you what, some of these color applications can take 2-2.5 hours just to get everything going. I pride myself on the products that I use. I go above and beyond to always be using the best products to make your dreams come true. HOWEVER if that dream isn’t meant to come true I SOLEMNLY SWEAR I WILL ALWAYS TELL YOU THE TRUTH. Let’s face it, the truth can hurt but you know it always feels better once it’s all out there.

I just have to keep it real. I refuse to be that person that overpromises and underdelivers. I would way rather show you realistic expectations. If your hair health doesn’t support blonding I will always give you options, we can discuss a hair care regimen to make sure your hair can get ready for a lightening session. I am truly proud of my blondes (and my non-blondes! Shoutout to you too). Each and every one of those beautiful heads of hair has helped shape me into the stylist and human that you see here today.

Ok, short list of things I should have talked about in this bio but started rambling and now I feel like it’s getting a little long-winded, soooooo.... ya...

  • I sometimes do epic mermaid hair, just not often.

  • I love to drink iced coffee. Like way too much.

  • If I choose the music at the salon on any given day it will be something 90s. The 90s had the best music. (I would say don’t come for me, but I don’t even care. Come at me. 90s music forever 🤣)

    Ahem. Again, carried away.

  • I quote or refer to F•R•I•E•N•D•S at least 5 times a day.

  • I grew up in Portland but I DO NOT hate on the “transplants”

  • I got to marry one of my best friends and I get to work and build a FEMPIRE with my other best friend!

  • I’m tattooed, fat, funny blah blah blah the list could apparently go on forever.

I am currently still accepting new clients! I always suggest scheduling a color consultation to see if we are a good fit for each other and we can talk hair journeys! Hair journeys are my favorite!

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

Ps. I love the crap out of my dogs. They have people names and they are my children. Dog mom life forever. Check them out on my Instagram! They cute. They crazy. But they cute.

Hi, IM

MADELYN

Madelyn began her training in California at Paul Mitchell in April 2005. Although her first attempt in the hair industry was at age five when she and her childhood best friend gave each other new do’s. “She butchered my hair, but I just gave her some texturized bangs.” Madelyn finished her professional training when she moved to Portland. Shortly after graduating, she opened Chameleon Salon. “I wanted a career that wouldn't be mundane. the thought of a career that was not only creative but would always have tons of variation from day to day excited me.” When asked what she’s most passionate about doing she says color is her specialty. Looking at her portfolio it’s easy to see why; from beautifully blended balayage to neon unicorn hair and everything in between, it seems she really has found the variety she was looking for in her career. Her favorite part about hair, though, starts with the person in her chair. “My goal with my clients is to determine what style will work best for them based on their hair type, lifestyle, budget, and how much time they want to dedicate towards maintaining their style both at home and in the salon.” When Madelyn isn’t giving killer consultations, cuts, and colors, she’s channeling her inner Martha at home for friends and family. “I will be the hostess with the mostest some day!” Honestly though, she really does make a mean trifle. She also loves spending time with her three dogs.
